Electric car rental questions

Are the cars fully electric or hybrid?
Fully electric — not hybrid. The BYD Dolphin, Hyundai Kona Electric, and Omoda E5 are battery-electric vehicles with zero tailpipe emissions.
Will the battery run out on a day trip?
No. All Kathmandu valley day trips — Nagarkot, Bhaktapur, Dhulikhel, city sightseeing — are comfortably within a single charge. Your driver manages all charging logistics; you don't need to think about it.
Is EV charging available in Kathmandu?
Yes. Kathmandu has a growing network of EV charging stations. Autara's drivers are experienced with the city's charging infrastructure and handle all top-ups during the trip.
Is EV hire more expensive than a regular car?
No. The EV hire price is the same as for equivalent conventional vehicles — driver, electricity, and tolls included. No green premium.
Why does Nepal have so many electric vehicles?
Nepal removed import duty on electric vehicles to reduce fuel imports and improve urban air quality. Kathmandu now has one of the highest EV densities in South Asia. Your trip supports a transition that is already well underway.
