FAQ

Bike rental questions

How much does bike rental cost in Kathmandu?
Scooter rental starts at NPR 800/day. A 125cc motorbike is NPR 1,200–1,500/day. Adventure bikes (150cc+) cost NPR 2,000–3,000/day. Multi-day rentals are cheaper — contact us for weekly rates.
Do I need a licence to rent a motorbike in Kathmandu?
Yes. A valid motorcycle licence (Nepali or International Driving Permit endorsed for motorcycles) is required. Foreign tourists need an IDP plus their home country licence. For scooters under 100cc, a car licence may be accepted.
Can tourists rent bikes in Kathmandu?
Yes. We frequently rent to foreign tourists and trekkers. You need a valid IDP endorsed for motorcycles and your home country driving licence. We handle all the rental paperwork and provide an insurance card valid for Nepal.
Is a deposit required?
Yes. A refundable deposit of NPR 5,000–10,000 (depending on bike) is held during the rental period. It is fully refunded when the bike is returned in the same condition. We also take a photocopy of your licence and passport.
What are the best bike routes from Kathmandu?
For a half-day: Chandragiri or Kakani Hill. For a full day: Nagarkot sunrise (leave 4:30 AM) or Dhulikhel with Namobuddha. For multi-day: the Kathmandu–Pokhara route via Prithvi Highway is Nepal's classic ride, passing the Trishuli river gorge and ending with Annapurna views over Phewa Lake.
Is fuel included in the bike rental price?
No. Fuel is not included and is paid by the renter. Kathmandu has numerous petrol stations. We hand over the bike with a quarter tank and ask you to return it the same way.
